Your Foot switch is set up to emulate a USB keyboard and the default key preferences are set to Multimedia keys (Play / Pause, Fast Forward & Fast Rewind). In some situations, the Multimedia keys may not function, and therefore you can configure which keys should be able to control the player from a Chrome browser. Examples of such situations are Citrix, or other Remote Desktop Applications, and MacBook's.
To reconfigure your Foot Switch to NOT use multimedia keys, perform the following steps (it is assumed that you have already set up your Foot Switch in accordance with this article: Controlling the Audio Player).
1. In the upper right corner of the Chrome browser, click the 'three-dot' symbol and select 'Settings'
2. Select 'Settings'
2. Select 'Extensions'
3. Click 'Keyboard shortcuts'
4. Locate the 'Mirsk Audio Controller' extension and enter the desired shortcut keys, or key combinations, you want to use. Make sure they don't collide with existing shortcut keys. Shortcut keys must be set to 'Global' in order to enable typing while the browser window is in the background.
5. Next, you need to alter the Olympus Foot Switch configuration to match the settings you entered in step 4. In order to do this, you will need to download and run the Olympus Foot Switch Configuration Tool:
Download, unzip and run the Olympus Foot Switch Configuration Tool. Plug in the USB cable of your Olympus RS-xxH foot switch and verify that your configuration tool window looks similar to the one shown above. Select 'Keyboard mode' in the 'Operating mode' dropdown menu. Click 'Apply to Foot Switch' and verify that you get the message 'Foot Switch Settings Updated'.
You are now ready to use your foot switch with ProDictation!
